Indian government's Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will guard IT major Infosys's Bangalore campus from Friday onwards. Infosys will pay around Rs 2.56 crore every year as recurring cost for a team of 101 CISF personnel, led by an Assistant Commandant, one Inspector, 12 Sub-Inspectors, 18 Head Constables and 69 Constables.
Infosys has become the first private firm to get CISF security cover following an amendment to the law to enable the paramilitary force to deploy its staff in the private sector and in joint ventures on cost-reimbursement basis.
Currently, CISF has 79 pending security requests from private establishments. These include: Reliance Jamnagar Refinery, Wipro, Taj Hotel (Mumbai), Trident Hotels (eight locations), Hotel Marriott (Mumbai), Delhi Public School (three branches in Delhi), Jaypee Group of Hotels (eight hotels) and Torrent Powers (Ahmedabad).
CISF will provide anti-terrorist and anti-sabotage cover to Infosys delivery centers in Bangalore but the routine security checks would be carried out by the private security agency engaged by the company.
